About
In my dissertation I focus on a methodologization of apparatuses of bodily production as objects of critical analyses as well as instruments for critical analyses in philosophy of technology by analyzing UK Border Agency’s Human Provenance Project which centered around the idea to read off ethnic ancestry and even national identity from bodies of African asylum seekers by using isotope tests and DNA analyses – and with that to combat so-called “asylum abuse” with new techno-scientific methods. Against this background, I not just want to point out that this project (also) ultimately failed because material bodies are precisely not passive objects or plastic matter in which technological rationality can be inscribed unopposed, but also try to conceptualize a post-constructionist philosophy of technology and material bodies as always already entanglements.
