Faculty Member, Institut für Orientalistik
Assistant Professor of Islamic Studies
About
I am focusing my work on the Arabic language and the Qurʾān in a wider,
multidisciplinary context. My personal interests are the emergence and development of Arabic (Comparative Semitic Studies) and Islam (intellectual history and psychology of religion), philological and rhetorical exegesis of the Qurʾān, as well as corpus and computational linguistics and modern trends in Arabic, especially in oral and written Media Arabic including the internet as a source of study e.g. for the purpose of studying youth culture. Yet, I also enjoy working with manuscripts and inscriptions.
