One of these components would be open repositories based on open source software with free access to researchers. Open access policies are essential, as are open infrastructures and open contents. Repositories can support this openness by offering open licenses, open metadata , the possibility to use open formats and open thesauri. Another principal point is transparency. Open peer review should be possible, and the description of processes should also be transparent. Of course, an open license should provide all data types and metadata as well.It is important to help researchers to make their results visible and accessible and to encourage them to publish in OA-Journals and use repositories for the underlying data. Open Access Policies are supporting these efforts. Open data can be freely used, modified, and shared by anyone for any purpose. In order to do so, Open Licenses are required.Also ...

Im Rahmen des österreichweiten Projekts „e-Infrastructures Austria“ wird derzeit im Cluster I „Me... more Im Rahmen des österreichweiten Projekts „e-Infrastructures Austria“ wird derzeit im Cluster I „Metadatenkomplex aus technischer und nichttechnischer Sicht“ ein Wissensnetzwerk und eine Wissensplattform über Metadaten aufgebaut. Ziel ist die Vorbereitung von Guidelines wie man sowohl im IT-Bereich als auch in Bibliotheken im Bereich von Aufbau und Betrieb eines Repositoriums mit unterschiedlichen Fragen bzgl. Metadaten umgehen kann und soll. Neben Übersichten über die Umsetzungsmöglichkeiten von Linked (Open) Data, Metadatenstandards, Best-Practicemodellen, neuen technischen Entwicklungen z. B. im Bereich Controlled Vocabularies, einer Bedarfserhebung von ForscherInnen zum Thema Metadaten für Forschungsdaten und einer Reihe an Use Cases wird auch eine Studie über den derzeitigen Stand der Dinge beim Umgang mit Metadaten an österreichischen Institutionen vorbereitet. Based on our input to the Data Management Workshop, held during the Austrian Citizen Science Conf... more Based on our input to the Data Management Workshop, held during the Austrian Citizen Science Conference 2019 in Obergurgl, we provide a comparative perspective on the open data and data management requirements in the European Union’s Horizon 2020 programme and those of a national funder, the Austrian FWF, in this paper. We conclude that, although there are some differences in terminology and specific requirements, both the FWF and Horizon 2020 DMPs essentially cover the same ground.

We consider that such a comparative analysis of the requirements pertaining to research data management can help avoiding duplication and assist researchers when drawing up data management plans for their respective funders. We conclude that, although there are some differences in terminology and specific requirements, both the FWF and Horizon 2020 DMPs essentially cover the same ground.
